This year I entered for the first time “The Excellence in Bear Artistry Awards 2018” and I was thrilled to see an email arriving in my mailbox that notified me that my creation Nartica was chosen by the judges and won an award I couldn’t be more thrilled!

Category Entry Score Position Score Range Other Soft Sculptures Nartica 94% Top 3 76% – 99%
Other Soft Sculptures Diablo 87% 7th 76% – 99%

Congratulations on winning a Judges Choice Award with your entry “Nartica”.

After winning the judge’s award she was showcased on the website with 2 other bears in her class and it was up to the public to vote on the bear they did like most…..I can’t thank you enough to all who voted for Nartica, it means so much to me, and you voted with such a big amount that she won with 53%  in her group, I was speechless and I’m so proud and thankful for your support.

Before I was lucky enough already to win 2 Bristol award certificates at the teddy bear show in Woburn with Doughy and my Unicobear in the novice class and I won 3x in the Ebearshow.

The first time I enter an award contest and had no idea in what class to add my bears thought that was a learning course on its own already but I think most important thing is that love and enjoying making bears is and must stay the main thing.

Then I had three times a creation chosen by the public in an online teddy bear show as a winner.

2019 was a great year for me,
entering an award contest for your handmade artist bears is a challenge in more ways and the most important one is which bears you add and in what class they would fit best, you never know how many have entered in the same class as you, and you never know who will be the judges and what style they like. You don’t know if they look at all detail plus the cuteness factor or if they like a vintage style or real-life-looking creations. I won big this year but I’m honestly too, a bear I made with all detail created by myself, all clothing created by myself, a bear I had high exceptions for, a bear I was so proud of wasn’t good enough to be a big winner  he came to a second place, yes, of course, that is good too, that is even fantastic but it would make me more proud if he would end up as a big winner

What I  say here is: you never know, you never know what be like that moment and to who you have to compete, there are many fantastic creators out there and maybe that’s why we see often the same teddy’s in all shows over and over, I’m not an organizer but I think if I were I would only allow newly created bears special for the show, bears who won Toby award in 2018 you see joining in URSA and the Artistry awards and again in the Toby awards for 2019.

Judging from a picture isn’t always easy either and that’s why we have the Golden George awards in Germany when you come through the first selection then your creation must be there for the final selection of winners, that way they can be judged in the fur, see tiny details and how the seems are closed, etc. I can’t enter this contest myself it would be fantastic if one of mine came through but there is no chance I can go travel in that direction but we never know what the future brings.

Anyways my show results for 2019 are as followed:

last but not least was to be chosen in the Toby award contest with Tootsie, this show had some bad delays but Teddybears and friends magazine took it over and they had a learning course too 🙂 .Public voting has just ended and the main winners in each group will be announced in early 2020.
I don’t think she will be getting a first-place here but this nobody can take her off anymore.

UPDATE: Tootsie won her group in the public voting and  that’s not all, this little bear had the most votes and became the overall winner with the title: Best bear of the year

2020 This year is a  strange year for all of us with  COVID threats, and worrying for our health and those we love.

Teddybear shows got cancelled and would usually have an Award contest, but I managed to enter one, the show from bears and Bears was the URSA, and I had 4 winning bears thanks to all my fans who were willing to vote for me and or other magnificent creations.

a fourth place was for my creation Dusty Rose, shes a fantastic 27-inch big girl made from a very dense long pile of faux fur

This year 2021 we didn’t have many shows and or award contests for our collectable teddys due to the pandemic.
URSA is an online show where people vote for their favourite in each class through their mobile devices or PC
so this makes it easy to join.

I was lucky enough to be voted in the first round with three of my creations to go to the final voting.

My first favourite myself was Ammatolia a fantasy creature, she was lucky enough to end as third in her class wish gave me a lovely roset.

Then I had  Mummy Always Love You in the class for “friends” This couple was made to symbolize the sadness and love a mother has when her baby grows wings.
They ended like Ammatolia in a well-deserved third place.

And final but not least my chocolate labrador puppy Luca who was lucky enough to be the winner of his class and received the first prize.

Labrador Puppy

Waiting till you receive the prices always seems to be endless special when there are added a few extra gifts, like a URSA pin, a  pen I really love with the pink gold and the soft top to use with my mobile, cute boot buttons eyes was gifted, they always come handy, and a certificate.

This all was possible thanks to the “Bears and Buds website” they are well organized with a lot of info for buyers and sellers, regular shows where you can buy and sell your creations, and a lovely website to visit and read. simply click on the picture below to see.
